New Tetley Colour Therapy Herbal Teas

Since I've found out that I'm pregnant I haven't been drinking coffee and have turned to tea instead.  I enjoy trying different flavours and varieties.  I do, of course, make sure I'm drinking ones safe for pregnancy as some herbs aren't recommended.  When approached to try one of the new Tetley Colour Therapy herbal teas I was more than delighted.  My favorite thing at the end of the day after my toddler has gone to bed is just to relax with a nice cup of tea.

Tetley has introduced new Colour Therapy which includes ten herbal tea blends for any mood.  They even have a quiz you can take at http://www.tetleycolourtherapy.com/ to determine which tea blend is a good fit for your current mood.

Without even taking the test I chose to try Soothe because it seemed like a delicious blend of herbs and soothe is exactly what I need at the end of the day.  I enjoyed the blend of ginger, lemongrass and mint.  When I finally did take the test it came up with Cleanse which also sounds good.  I like how the background colour changes as you do the test in determining which flavour is recommended.  I'm looking forward to trying the different flavours!

Tetley teas are available at grocery stores across Canada.  Suggested retail price is $3.29 for a pack of 20 or $4.99 for a pack of 40.  Tetley offers more than 50 different flavours and formats of tea.  For more information on tetley go to www.tetley.ca or their facebook page.

Stop Reacting and Start Responding Review

I've never wanted to be one of those parents who just yells at their children in an attempt to stop them from doing something and to change their behavior.  Well now that he's almost 15 months old and getting into trouble that's exactly what I find myself doing.  I guess for me it's a hard habit to change since that's how I was brought up and it's easy to just yell "no" or "stop it"!

I was given the opportunity to review Sharon Silver’s new book Stop Reacting and Start Responding™ which offers a new way of disciplining our children without the senseless yelling and actually create change.  The book is divided into different chapters depending on the scenario.  She covers many different situations one could encounter with their children and explains how to handle the situation as well as examples of what to say.  I love how she also explains things from the child's point of view as it's easy to forget that they're children, not adults and therefore understand things differently from an adult.  Each section also has a quick recap at the end which provides an easy reference when looking back.

My son is only 14 months old so I do find that most of the book doesn't apply to him yet but I can already see little things in my behaviour that I can start changing in order to better be able to handle his behaviour when he gets older.  I'm trying to stop yelling but it's not easy.  I try to talk to him as she suggests in the book knowing he won't understand now but it'll help me get used to disciplining him in such a way.  I really think I'll be coming back to this book again and again for many years to come as it's a lot of information to take in and I'm sure I'll need many reminders.  Stop Reacting and Start Responding™ is a book that definitely belongs in all parents' reference libraries!
The book is available as soft bound or e-book at http://www.proactiveparenting.net/the_book  and at $12.95 or 9.95 is a steal for the wealth of information you would receive.  You can follow Sharon Silver on facebook and twitter for other great parenting tips.

New Years Resolutions

This year I decided not to really make any New Years resolutions as I never keep them.  Instead I decided I would work on one thing at a time and when that became more of a habit then start working on something else.  I started with drinking more water everyday.  After the last week I'm up to drinking 2 litres a day and for someone that doesn't really like water it's no easy feat.  To help myself out a little I will add lemons or limes to spice it up or use a crystal light packet.  With being pregnant I my body definitely needs the extra water and I'm definitely feeling good.

I've also been working on slowly decluttering and getting rid of stuff around the house.  With baby #2 on the way we have a spare room that's packed and needs to be cleared out so space must be made elsewhere for some of that stuff.  I don't find it that difficult to get rid of things but it's so easy to think that it's something you "might" use one day.  Chances are if you haven't used it in the last 6 months you'll never use it.

The next task I'll work on is having a routine for the house.  My son is on a great routine with meals and napping that works for him but we have no routing for cleaning and other stuff that needs to be done around the house so often things get neglected.  I think this'll help hubby out as he'll know what needs to be done to help me out and when to do it.  I think it'll be very important to have a good routine for before baby #2 comes and turns our whole world upside down!

How are you doing on your resolutions??

Online Shopping

Now that I have a toddler and it's winter I'm finding that online shopping makes my life so much easier!  I don't have to drag a stroller out in the snow and cold and my son doesn't like being stuck in his stroller for too long while mommy shops.  What makes online shopping even better is websites such as CSN Stores that are truly a one stop shop offering everything from a leather briefcase to housewares and baby stuff.  With over 200 stores at one website you can find something for everyone!

Chicken Soup For The Soul - Christmas Magic Review and Giveaway!

Christmas can be a magical as well as stressful time of year.  For me it's become more exciting again now that I have one child and another on the way.  Something about the looks on their little faces Christmas morning makes all the stress worth it.

Christmas Magic has 101 inspirational stories about Christmas.  Some stories are happy and others can be a little sad but they're all heart warming.  I enjoyed reading little bits about how other families spend or have spent their Christmases.  Everyone seems to have their own little traditions and ways of doing things.  I loved that the stories were only a few pages long so this allowed me to read a story or two then put the book down until I had another little bit of time.  When my son is a little older I'd love to read some of the stories to him.

This book would make a great gift for anyone who loves Christmas or the Chicken Soup for The Soul books.  They're available at most big online retailers and book stores such as chapters.ca or the Chicken Soup for The Soul website.

Now for the giveaway!  Three lucky readers will win a copy of Chicken Soup for The Soul - Christmas Magic.  A little late for the season that passed us by but great for many Christmases to come!  To enter just leave a comment why you want to win this book and don't forget to leave me an email address.  Open to Canada and the US and ends on Jan 17th.   For extra entries:
